Arsenal head to Glasgow

Scottish champions Glasgow City have two friendlies lined up against English Super League teams in the forthcoming weeks, writes Laura Montgomery.

City will take on Liverpool away from home on Sunday 12th February in the first of their pre-season glamour friendlies.

The battle of Britain them commences a week later on Sunday 19h February, when the Scottish Champions City take on English Champions and one of Europe’s top sides Arsenal at Petershill Park.

City played Liverpool last year in a pre-season match, with City finishing 3-0 winners, but with the semi-professional side now with a year in England's top flight under their belt, and City travelling without a number of their top players, the match is expected to be a much closer affair this time around.

Just seven days later and City welcome the mighty Arsenal to Glasgow in a match expected to be a real crowd pleaser. With some of the most famous faces in women's football in the Arsenal line up, City have the chance to test themselves against the best, as they gear themselves up for the start of the Scottish Women's Premier League in March.

Arsenal have always had a strong Scottish connection in their side

Commenting on his side’s forthcoming challenge matches, City Head Coach Eddie Wolecki Black said, “Pre-season is a very important time for every club and whilst we have arranged some very challenging matches I think it’s fair to say that the ones against Liverpool and Arsenal will capture the imagination of the public.

"Of course the Arsenal game will be viewed as a best of Britain game, however it’s important to treat it for what it is, a pre-season friendly, win lose or draw that's all it is.”

It will be a cash gate for the Arsenal match which has a 2pm kick off. Adults are £5, Children and OAP’s £2.

SPECIAL OFFER - If you buy your City season ticket on the day, you will get in for free. Season Ticket Costs £30 and guarantees entry to all Glasgow City domestic home League and Cup matches for the entire 2012 season.
