Game On: Who will make it to Hampden?
By Andrew Southwick:
This week's four Scottish League Cup semi finals should, by rights, be tight affairs. They should be difficult to predict, hard to split, tough to pick a winner. You know the drill.
However, The Away End are on a roll. If you've been following our bets, then you'll know that you would have trebled your money this month if you had backed all our tips.
Therefore, we're feeling unbeatable. Many would say cocky, but confidence is flowing through our veins.
So there's no anti-football from us this week. No playing it safe and hoping to sneak a win past the bookies. This week, we're going all out attack.
We're backing four confident home victories, which is going against the form book. Aberdeen couldn't beat St Mirren earlier in the season, Celtic have already lost to St Johnstone and go into this on the back of two defeats, Dundee United were thumped at Tannadice by Hearts a few weeks ago and Rangers are a third division club facing SPL opposition.
However, we're putting £5 on a four-team accumulator of Aberdeen, Celtic, Dundee United and Rangers to set up an intriguing semi-final line-up.
Further to that, we're going to them all to hit the net more than once.
On Tuesday night, we've £2.50 on an Aberdeen/Celtic double, with both starting off with a handicap of -1.
On Wednesday, we're doing the same on a Dundee United/Rangers double, also with a cheeky handicap of -1.
Frightening eh? Come on, it's halloween, but don't be scared. Back the New Firm and Old Firm to book their place at Hampden.
The Away End bets:
Season winnings: £174.11
October winnings: £121.71
£5 accumulator: Aberdeen, Dundee United, Celtic and Rangers (potential returns £57.56)
£2.50 Tuesday double: -1 handicaps Aberdeen/Celtic (potential returns £16.88)
£2.50 Wednesday double: -1 handicaps Rangers/Dundee United (potential returns £45)
