UFC 112: Silva Disappoints in Victory & Edgar Overcomes The Odds
By Matthew Harold
Middleweight bout: Kendall Grove (11-7-1NC) vs. Mark Muñoz (8-1)
Mark Muñoz showed his excellent ground and pound as he defeated Kendall Grove to secure a win which will help him in his attempts to join the elite group of middleweight fighters in the UFC.
Muñoz was made to pay early on as he looked for the takedown on Grove, who answered with a vicious right uppercut, which left Muñoz on his back and allowed Grove to try submission moves, while also looking to ground and pound his opponent towards defeat.
The second round started much more in the favour of Muñoz, who dropped his opponent to the ground and showed his wrestling expertise as he continued to hammer Grove with some extremely powerful shots which left the referee which no choice, but to call the fight.
Muñoz wins by TKO. 2:50 of the second round.

Lightweight Bout: Jim Miller (17-2) vs. Mark Bocek (8-3)
The first fight of the night was a close one, as the New Jersey native scored a victory in his hometown by bursting open his Canadian opponents head. The first and third rounds were what won it for Miller as he took the Toronto born fighter down to the ground and was unlucky not to make Bocek tap out at the end of the first round.
Miller had to survive the second round when Bocek had him tied up on the ground and was look to hook in the choke, but was unable to do so, allowing Miller to regain the advantage and ultimately gain the points victory.
Miller wins 29-28
Welterweight bout: Jon Fitch (22-3-1) vs. Ben Saunders (8-2-2)
John Fitch took one step closer to gain a second shot at the Welterweight title as he easily defeated Ben Saunders, with the former University of Purdue wrestler showing his great ground game, which Saunders had no answer for.

COLLATERAL DAMAGE INFLICTED ON LINCOLN FIELD
By Gary McDaniel
Well I’ve had a break from the racing after the madness of Cheltenham. To be honest I locked myself in a darkened room for some respite. I must say though that I have good old Pigeon Island, in the last, to thank for turning my fortunes around for the week.
Tomorrow sees the flat season make a welcome return and as per usual the Calvary charge that is the Lincoln takes centre stage. I’ve had a good scan through the runners and I’m opposing the short favourite Penitent. My tip is Collateral Damage, who is currently priced around 16/1, he was in great form at the back end of last year and I think he will continue that with a good run tomorrow. He picked up a decent 7 furlong race at the same track, Doncaster, back in November, so enjoys the track.
Others that take my fancy on Doncaster’s card are Jim Goldie’s Dhaular Dhar in the Spring Mile at 2.00. The Uplawmoor trainer gave the horse a spin round hurdles at Donny back in December. I think he needed it just to get him thinking about his racing again, as the horse went off the boil last term. Dhar is more recognised as a 7 furlong specialised but the extra furlong is probably a positive now.
Dandy Nicholls runs the ultra consistent Tax Free in the Cammidge Trophy at 2.35. He is a high class horse and the ground shouldn’t be a major problem as he has won in France previously where it usually has some cut underfoot. With it also being the week of the budget, which of course wasn’t Tax Free, then it may spark some interest (promised myself I would never back horses for those reasons).
Red Wine is my final selection in the 5.20 (no it has not been selected due to a fondness for a tipple). It has been proving consistent round the all-weather of late and with a good record at Doncaster it’s worth a punt.
Good luck!

Let's not look back over yesterday, too distressing for me.
